And so, eventually, the guys have made it through Ethiopia. At the Kenyan border, a reflective Ewan talks about their time there.

'So here we are, trying to get out of Ethiopia', he explains. 'It was just about quarter to twelve when we were on our way down here, and then we got the call from David that the border closes between twelve and three, so we bombed down here, and got our passports in just before 12 - it's five past now - so it may take a little while to leave Ethiopia, but probably not more than an hour, and then we've no idea how long it will take to get into Kenya'.

'But it's exciting,' he continues, 'we've been in Ethiopia for a long time and I'm going to miss it. I've really, really enjoyed being here, I think it’s the most phenomenal country. It's kind of given me and offered me everything I was looking for in Africa, so in many ways everything else that's to come is a bonus'.

Earlier in the trip, the guys took a flight down to Kenya to visit the Riders for Health site. Here’s a clip from the air…

Ewan tells us where they are, 'that's Kilimanjaro over there! We've come down to Kenya to visit the Riders for Health site. We're in a little aircraft while the cars and bikes have been loaded onto a boat back in Egypt'.

'We go back to Egypt tomorrow to follow the bikes and cars down the Nile through Lake Nasser down to Sudan. Then we get on the bikes and we ride down through Sudan, across the Sahara, man!'

Ethiopia made a big impression on Ewan. What places do you still remember? See the comments you sent in below.

    Ireland

Hi team, I have only been to a few places, it costs a lot more to get to places from way down here in Australia. But I really loved Ireland. The people were all so nice to us and I just love the country side. Yes Ewan Scotland was wonderful too. Danksy

    good luck guys

I envy you guys. The best place I’ve been on my travels would have to be Austria or London. Good luck for the rest of the try and stay safe.

    Fond travel memories

I bet there will be a line where Ewan compares the mountains and scenery of Ethiopia to the mountains and scenery of Scotland. There’s something about travels in your own country that you always look back upon fondly – I’m sure that doesn’t only apply to Scots. As for travelling further afield, then as a generalisation getting off the tourist trail brings the greatest satisfaction, meeting people just being themselves. Three places I look back on fondly are Daugavpils in Latvia, Tianshui in China & Denepropetrovsk in Ukraine – you’ll not find them in any guide book.

    Baja Mexico

I would have to say that I was touched by how beautiful the landscape and people were on my recent trip through Baja Mexico. Everyone was so happy and friendly, yet had so little, especially the kids. Riding offroad down there for a week was amazing. One young rider by the name of Jack from San Vincente was amazing. Riding since the age of 7, so talented, I heard stories of pro racers being blown away by how good he rides. Baja is so diverse from coast to everything in between. I road with a yank who's been riding down there for 25 years and he's still finding new trails. I ended up there by chance as I was sent to San Francisco for work, if you get the chance you should ride there. Cheers Matt

    Melbourne Adelaide Melbourne

One of our early Vicmoto trips over multiple days was a 1,600km (short by your standards)trip from Melbourne to adelaide and back. The journey is a memorable one particularly due to the ever changing changing and stunning scenery down the South Austrlia coastline, made easy by the BMW K1200GTs. We're still tracking your journey daily, and we're still envious.....ride safely!

    Lesotho

Lesotho is a little known treasure in the middle of South Africa...absolutely the nicest people, beautiful buttes. Ts'ehlanyane National Park is such an amazing resource. I think very fondly of the year I spent living there and look forward to a time I can return to my African home.

    Scotland has it all

My favorite place is Scotland. I taveled there in 2000 and it was everything I had been hoping. Bagpipers on the street playing for tips, incredibly friendly people, history everywhere I turned, incredible scenery, art and theater -it was just great! I felt like I'd returned home to my tribe!
