Chris, are you there...? ©
Ewan and Charley took a break from the riding and appeared on the Chris Moyles show this morning...
Listen to the interview by selecting the clip above. If you'd like to listen to the whole show, or download the interview as a podcast, head to the Chris Moyles site.
Here's some highlights from the show ...
Charley has relished the beginning of the trip. 'It’s taken us about a year to get it all together, and since January its been really full on - trying to find a route, deciding where we want to go on our trip. All the preparation is quite hard work, but its just nice to get out on the bikes and ride.'
Ewan went on to discuss the weather and the bikes. 'We encountered more rain in one day in France than we did in the 3 months we did Long Way Round. It just poured and poured on us. But it’s been good, we’ve been blasting through Europe really, we’re done really well and we’re all in good shape. The show will be on BBC TWO in November so we’re just hoping that lots of crazy things happen to us like they did last time, otherwise it could be a really long, boring TV show!
'We’ve got BMW Adventurers but they’ve remodelled them. They’ve got bigger engines - 1200 cc - and they’re lighter, they’ve shaved about 30kg off so they’re much nicer to ride. Although, I am very fond of the old 1150. We ride most of the day, but it depends. Our mileages will change as we get deeper into Africa with its gravel roads and deep sand, but still we’ll be riding for most of the day. We ride and stop to film all of the time so for us a 300 mile day takes a long time.'
Chris chose 'Born to be Wild' to lead into the interview. We asked for your favourite biking tracks, and these are the comments you sent in.

Song 2 by Blur! Enjoy the trip, and please keep the other riders you meet in it this time. Not everyone can get the support and sponsorship you guys can, and it would be nice for their folks to see 'em.

Just missed you
Looks a great trip. Two of us just rode from UK to Italy over the Alps. just missed you guys! Left on 16th May and got back this morning. I bought my bike three years ago as a direct result of your LWR trip. I had never riden a motor bike before, but at 51 years old was inspired by your trip. Thanks. 'Keep it wide', and good luck.

Favourite biking track
Bona Sera by Dean Martin--try it some time on twisty roads in great weather. Of course, love it whenever Long Way Round by Stereophonics pops up on random play in my ipod. Born to Be Wild? It doesn't really fit anymore, does it?

My favorite track to listen too while in traffic would have to be "Spybreak" by the Propellerheads or "Battle without Honor or Humanity" by Tomoyasu Hotei. They help when trying to avoid crazy drivers.

Can't wait to see you again on the telly but will have to make do with the radio and online. I was in SA in February ending up like you in Cape Town. Fab but not as exciting as your trip. Take care you two and come back safe & sound. LOL Eileen x

Stop by the Isle of Capri
I just saw that you are on the Amalfi Coast. My husband and I are huge fans and we loved watching the Long Way Around. I studied in Italy for a sememster in college, and the Isle of Capri is still my favorite memory... it is amazing and worth the stop if you have time. You can take a boat over to the island and there are roads to the top. Have fun and be safe!!!

Amalfi Coast! Fantastic!
Beautiful guys, I'm jealous. You two gents are responsible for me going out and getting my licence after a 10 year hiatus from riding since owning a little XR75 at age 11. It's something that has lasted inside, so thanks for inspiring me and rekindling my biking spirit.
