Amazing shot of the lads riding towards the camera with the pyramids in the backdrop! One day I'd love to see the pyramids with my own eyes, for now TV and books will have to do. I did not see any of the ancient wonders, i think most of them are destroyed anyway.. But some wonders of the middle age, like Hagia Sofia or the Colosseum.. All the buildings in Turkey and also the landscape in Anatolya are just amazing..you should take a ride ;)

Wow, what a journey - this has me absoloutly hooked...and green with envy - enjoy, and be safe. Our three children - 13, 10 and 7 yrs are keeping a close eye too, knowing Mama is on two wheels in Africa next year.

Watching the awe in which you experienced at seeing the pyramids reminded me of the first time we saw the Grand Canyon. It was totally overwhelming to see it and so unreal in a way ... like looking at a postcard ! We travelled 2500 miles in just under three weeks around the western America - Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Bryce National Park, Zion National Park, Death Valley, Mammoth Lakes, Yosemite and the giant Redwood trees and finally into San Francisco !! A great trip and one I hope to see you tackling in Long Way Up ? Stay safe and have fun !

This has got to be the best log so far. I've never been to Egypt so I can't begin to imagine the scale or amazingness (I'm sure that isn't a word...) of the pyramids, but every time you post it's making me more and more jealous. I have two greatest sights. One would have to be the Grand Canyon. It was beautiful. The other one would be Niagara Falls. You can stand right beside the water falling over the rock cliff. You can feel the power of the tons of water falling over. I would love to see the Pyramids. It was so cool watching the two of you riding beside the Pyramids. Made me feel I was there with you. No, not you guys.... hehe. I mean the night sky as viewed from the desert. Free of light pollution! You can see the spiral arms of the galaxy stretching from horizon to horizon! wow, driving with the bikes around the pyramids must be the greatest! For myself I didn't see any of the eight wonders, but well, there are not many left. So I will hurry up to see them as long as they exists. The greatest sights I saw? done by people it was nyc in general. and done by nature its definitive the fjords in Norway! You guys drive without a helm? tststs... I can understand it because of the heat, but you have be careful, remember you have just one head ;o)

I read your book "Long Way Round" a couple of years ago and just got the dvd and finished watching it last night. (yeh, a little slow on watching the dvd). Ewan and Charlie you have got balls!! What an inspiration to all riders. I have been riding for 13 years and it has changed my life! I am ready to ride across the world. If you ever think about doing a series "chicks ride around the world" I am in!!! Thank you for showing us the world and the people of the world! They looked magical, all lit up with lasers, and as first light came up, it just took my breath away. The memories you guys are making together will stay with you forever. Pyramids! - Impressive! MOST impressive!! I agree with Andreas. Although I haven't been to the Italy, I've traveled quite a bit around Anatolia. I'm not sure which of the original seven wonders are still intact but read that HAGIA SOFIA (In Istanbul) was to be selected as one of the "new" seven wonders. It's a really impressive stucture. Also the BOSPHORUS which divides the city of Istanbul in two - European and Asian - is lovely too (You MUST take a tour - I did a couple weeks ago - the wind in your face :) ).. Other than that my personal favorites include Mount OLYMPOS in Antalya (TURKEY) (where the Carettas comes to nest too! I even got to see the tracks of those baby SEATURTLES last year!).

There is also a place called "CIRALI - Yanartas" where methane gas escapes from the soil and creates fires. The largest flames on top of the mountains served as a beacon for sailors in ancient times and is still alive today. People used to build their homes around these smaller natural sources of fire. Climb up to the mountain (with a LIGHTER of course :D !)and it is possible to move some rocks and create a fire of your own right out of the soil! Also the Fairy Chimneys in Cappadocia and the cascading lime deposits in Pamukkale are quite impressive and unforgetable too! And finially, altough they may not be on the "seven wonders"list, I think that seeing the whales would be amazing, but for me, that adventure has yet to come! Have a great time!

I'm doing the grand canyon/ arizona trip next year, travelling has always been a dream for me but funds usually don't allow for such epic adventures so the long way round, charlie's dakar trip and now the long way down are an outlet for my ambitions, keep them coming!

Other great African sights would be Mt Kilimanjaro and Lake Nakuru (where the flamingoes are). I drove across Africa in 1985 and seeing your photos and hearing of your adventures is bringing back so many great memories for me!

A coach tour guide on a trip to egypt from cyprus after many hours exclaimed,Ladies and gentlemen, the great pyramids! and in the distance they loomed up before us as the coach drove nearer. this is the most memorable sight of my whole life, something i will never forget!!!

I've been for a gallop on a horse around the pyramids the first time, just amazing... did a camel and horse with my husband the second time, a bit more fun.... I think next time round we will be on a motorbike, how cool is that! I'm guessing it's early in the morning there as there are no tourists, it's looks rather peaceful, which is hard to find in Cairo!! Magnificent journey Charley & Ewan!!

I don't know if the Grand Canyon counts but I've seen that and it's amazing. I know it's not a seven wonders thing, but seeing a Humpback Whale jump clean out of the water and also lunge head first out about five times really close to our tour boat in Monterey, CA was probably the most spectacular thing I've ever seen... that and Attention spelled with an 'S' (thought it might have been a Queens English thing.) ;-)

I haven't seen any of the seven wonders of the world, but out of the countries I've traveled, Finland is my favorite so far. I reluctantly tasted some reindeer at dinner party over there and it wasn't so bad. Let's see, so far I've been to England, France, Sweden, and Finland. Next is Scotland and Ireland!!! Yea!!! Hopefully we get there before the end of the year, if not next spring. I can't wait. I love the log entries guys, keep them coming as often as possible. Take care.

Well, I haven't seen the pyramides of Egypt yet, but while traveling trough Mexico I have seen the ancient pyramides of Chichen Itza and Teotihuacan. Having been lucky enough to travel around Egypt, Israel and jordan ive seen some of the most amazing sites, proper once in a lifetime experiences. The giza plateau and the great pyramids are just awe inspiring to be around, ill never forget standing on them and looking out over cairo and being so close to the sphinx really brings the scale of the place into perspective, but i must say, riding all the way there from england on motobikes is SOOOO much more appealing than flying like i did!! You are the luckiest guys in the world doing what you do, and well done! Hope it all goes well for you!!!

Any one really wants to be fully amazed about the pyramids has to take a horse ride an hour before the sunrise; it will be very very beautiful sight , I used to make it once at least every month. But you have to be very careful from your horseman guide must of the time they are very high

Motorcyclist only can appreciate this one I think. My wife and I have been on many tours around the world but a trip to New Zealand this March had some great riding moments and the one that we both agree was the best was the road to Milford Sound. The reason it was so good was that we got caught in torrential rain on the road in with mist swirling round the mountains and the most surreal sight of a hundred waterfalls cascading off the rock faces and into the road. We had a job keeping the VFR on the road through all the hairpins an finally made it through the tunnel to Milford (those who have been through this tunnel in the dry should try it in the rain, buckets of water spring to mind) and were met by what can only be described as an almost prehistoric view of the sea mountains mist and rain that took our breath away. The journey back was good fun as it was all up an up. New Zealand on a bike is highly recommended.

June 7 2007 Hi Ewan and Charley and all. I haven't traveled to much, but one of my favorite places was Castle Hohenzollern near Stuttgart Germany.Gorgeous castle. I would love someday to see the Castles in Scotland and England. My favorite places in Michigan are in the upper peninsula. If you ever come to Michigan you must travel up North and see Taquamanon Falls and go to the Porgupine Mountains and Lake of the Clouds---Ontonagon Michigan.Lots of interesting sights to see in beautiful Michigan. I guess will have to travel, where you guys are, via your documentarry, as I will never get there myself. So, I hope you see many many interesting sights and pass them on to all of us. The plan is, there is no plan. That was our motto when I did an overland trip to India by Landrover about 9 years ago. Sounds like Ewan & Charley have got the right idea, set a rough target for the day but don't count on achieving it, as there's always something to sidetrack you, whether good or bad. My favourite surprise was Ajanta and Ellora caves in India, we had no idea what they were but they sounded good, and held up up for 3 days while we explored these amazing temples carved out of solid cliffs. I know India's a well trodden path, but if you fancy another trip one day, consider it. We took a year out and still didn't do it justice.

I was in Eygpt three weeks ago looking at the pyramids and sphinx!! If I had realised Ewan and Charlie would be there I would of postphoned my holiday to this week. They are great heros of mine and was estatic when I met Charlie at a bike show a couple of years ago and got his autograph in my 'long way round' book! It was fantastic to see you at the Pyramids. I was there in 1991 and would like to go back some day. I remember Cairo as such an amazing city, packed full with people, sights and sounds, and very little room to escape the crowds. I vividly remember someone sleeping in the middle of a roundabout but I'm not sure if it was by choice or through desperation, but at least he had some space!? Safe journey.

Haven't seen anything grand like that yet, but I am planning on it!! Egypt is definitely one of the places I would love to go, and my five year old says to me the other day, "is that the place with the Sphinx? Can I come too?" Haha....I am about to book a trip to the Grand Canyon though, and I assume that as far as America goes that is up there on the list, probably number one of the natural sites that you can see.

Hi Again, The greatest sight I've seen was seeing Ewan in Guys and Dolls back in October of '05. We made the trip to London from Canada to see our favourite actor and we got seats 3 row centre. It was a dream come true. We were a bit dasappointed that we couldn't get an autograph, but we had amazing time. We hope to make the trip again in January to see Othello. Although I am totally inspired by Ewan and Charlie, to one day do the same by mounting my bike and whizzing off to far away places, you don't necessarily need to travel all that far to take in some superb scenery. Two years running now i have ridden from Gloucester to a town in Wales called Machynlleth (Just north of Aberystwyth). The first year was on a sports bike, allowing me to enjoy the wide twisty roads and quality tarmac, this year i took my classic bike and although i was able to fling it round some superb windy roads, i just throttled back occasionally and took in the fantastic scenery. Some of the views in Wales are just stunning. Huge expanses of land strenching far into the distance. Sometimes out there, you feel like the only person in the world. If you have a chance to head in that direction, i really would recommend it. Good luck guys, i look forward to the next DVD!

Hey guys, my family and I are enjoying the video clips. My two young daughters (who are 7 and 3) loved the pictures of the pyriamids. They also love animals and reptiles and wonder if you've seen any along the way? They would be thrilled to see that on film. Thanks again for this adventure and keep riding for the sake of all the children in the world.

Victoria Falls

I have to agree with Lori (Montreal). Whilst up in the (then) Southern Rhodesia many years ago at the Vic Falls, I overheard an American tourist say to his wife words to the effect that "man, this is REALLY impressive, compared to the Niagara Falls". He and Lori was/is right - the Niagara Falls are in the second league compared to the Victoria Falls (and I've seen them both). See you in Cape Town, all being well.

I have been getting excited for everyone seeing the clips of the places you have passed through, Egypt at sunrise was especially beautiful. Like others, my envy is rising above my worry, though that is still there. What a fantastic time everyone must be having even with the storms and mishaps, I laughed with Claudio getting to ride in the air conditioning. I have been catching the weekly radio interviews at the wee hours of 3am. It�s been great sharing your trip as you go along this time. I have to say that the Egypt clip is one of the Best yet! As for Wonders, it seems this Beautiful Earth provides thousands of Wonders! I personally have enjoyed visiting the Roman Coliseum, Blue Mosque in Istanbul, The ruins on the Greek island Delos to hiking through the Amazon Jungle. The Grand Canyon is awe inspiring too! Again, thanks so much for sharing this Adventure with ALL! It itself is a Wonder! Cheers!

Whilst in transit to Sudan in March, arrived at Cairo hotel at about 1.30 am. It was with great excitement we drew the curtain in the morning to see the pyramids before us! Amazing. Safe riding, guys!

Interesting regarding the fine dust you encountered (like cement). Came across the same in the first Gulf War (nightmare in microswitches etc) and also here in Australia in the north, it's called 'bull dust' here...Regards-the Vicmoto crew!

I am completely hooked on this trip and thank you both for allowing us to join you on the journey this time instead of making us wait until the show came out on Sky (thank you LWD and BBC). It is really great to read the blogs and watch your video clips but I just wonder if you will miss the isolation of just being alone like on the previous trip. I know you are enjoying reading the messages but are the updates distracting you from the journey at all? Loved the pics of Eygpt - wish I was there!

Just saw the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul -- chosen by the seven wonders foundation to be among them. It's splendid, especially if you know the history behind it ... in fact it's tear jerking in today's world. Seeing two major religions combined in a building.. it would be a 'long way to go' trip for you -- connecting the cultures as you go East.

Well guys the road seems to be the sand right now or rather the dust,but it all sounds fun and ....dusty. Not sure about the hygiene of eating out of a shaving pot, and not sure if it adds flavour to the food...... Anyway I have been following the journey and I am amazed how fast it goes and how many miles you blokes have covered in this time. It cant be an easy ride ....time wise but its definitely got to be the time of your life.... keep on movin...best wishes Jane

I have just moved to Cairo with my fiance, and when we were at the Giza pyramids on Friday night ... i just couldn't beleive that I live in Africa and was standing looking at them all lit up! Truely breathtaking! We have watched Long Way Round over and over .. can't wait for this to come out on DVD (and book!) Totally hooked!

Ive been to Egypt a few times in the past three years and I love it! I plan to ride there myself as soon as I have passed my bike test! I would love to visit the Hope Village Society in Cairo where they look after the street children and hopfully take some money to them to help with the good work they do. I look forward to watching The Long Way Down keep up the good work you are an inspiration!
