Brian
Molko and co's European tour bus stopped in Brixton for two nights
- so BBC London's Tom Edwards grabbed some eyeliner and headed down. |

I'm
not really a Placebo fan - but it has to be said this lot rock.
OK - the audience has an average age of 21 and there's more eyeliner
than a Boots cosmetic counter but the whole experience was pretty
incredible - considering it was midweek after a very heavy long weekend.
Brian Molko and the two other band members catapulted themselves onto
the stage to Bulletproof Cupid from the new album Sleeping
With Ghosts.
Injury
They resemble tall, proud stick insects from Mars rather than musicians
- but they sure can play
even with one of the band members
Stefan Olsdal "the viking" carrying a wrist injury.
They're at their best with their loud fast numbers like Every You
and Every Me, Special K or the new single The Bitter
End and the fans loved Pure morning.
But I'm not so sure about the ballads - the goths, geeks and freaks
in the moshpit also didn't really know what to do
it might
have been the light glinting off Brian's barnet but I'm almost certain
someone nearly got a lighter out U2-style and started swaying it about
at arm's length.
Rant
Brian did seem in a pretty good mood. He had a good old rant about
Michael Jackson, the usual anti-American stuff and had a good old
pop at Gareth Gates.
But he genuinely looked like he was enjoying it. He said he'd seen
Sonic Youth and The Pixies at the Brixton Academy in his yoof and
it did felt like they were giving it their best shot.
I loved it
.but who's half inched the makeup remover?
