I dragged my long suffering pater to a car boot sale over the August Bank Holiday and was
cock-a-hoop to pick up a video of The Beatles Anthology that someone had taped off the television.

All for the princely sum of 50p!

I thought it might be just the one episode but was thrilled to learn, upon returning to Crowley Castle, it was the entire series!

I've got the Box Set already but alas it's currently in storage while I'm inbetween flats, so from Sunday to Bank Holiday Monday evening I was transported back to Beatle heaven!

Believe you me I could bang on all night about The Fabs' talent, importance and social relevance.

Everyone the world over either knows or loves at least one Beatles toon.

Watching this outstanding series again, I was particularly struck by John Lennon's emotional reaction to the news of manager Brian Epstein's death.

As his voice-over poignantly states, "I knew we'd f***ing had it then!".

Talking of Brian Epstein, I'm extremely excited about the biopic of his life which is currently being written by Todd Graff and with Jude Law slated in the starring role of Eppy.

Gary Crowley: 24 hours spent in the company of The Beatles - no change there then!

Jude, you may remember, read extracts from Brian's diaries for the brilliant Arena TV documentary a few years ago and is a most excellent choice in my opinion.

It won't be with us for a couple of years apparently but I can't wait.

Eppy really was a fascinating man whose love and belief in "his boys" brought them to the attention of the world.

We really have a lot to thank him for.
