Runners in the 2006 London Marathon

The site wants stories from runners.

Marathon memories revisited

A website is inviting people to share their memories of the London Marathon.

by Laura MacDonald

Runners, spectators and volunteers are being asked to submit their memories of the London Marathon to a new website.

The Memory-Joggers site wants anyone who has been touched by the marathon to share their memorable stories and photographs with the world.

A range of prizes are being offered for the best photographs, with items up for grabs including a special VIP trip to this year’s marathon, a digital camera and mountain bike.

The website has been set up by Flora, which has been sponsoring the event for 14 years, to mark the last year of its involvement with the event.

Dave Bedford, the marathon’s race director, said: “The Memory-Joggers website is a great way for Flora to celebrate and show their appreciation to everyone who has been involved in the marathon.

“I’ve got countless great memories from the last 14 years and encourage as many people as possible to share theirs.”

Memory-Joggers is also attempting to break the record for the world’s biggest thank you card by getting visitors to submit their messages of gratitude online so that they can be printed on a giant card on the day of the marathon.

From next year, Virgin will be the London Marathon’s official sponsor.
