Ground of the week: Park View Road
This week our Ground of the week is home to two Kent sides Welling United and Erith and Belvedere and has been a venue for football since the 1920s

Welling United Football Club were founded in 1963 but their ground Park View Road has been football venue since the 1920s. By the late 1930s there was a large grandstand on the ground with dressing rooms underneath.
This stand suffered bomb damage during the second wrold war and was eventually demolished. Before Welling United took over the ground it was the home of Bexley United.
They played their last home game at Park View Road in April 1976 in front of
Capacity: 4,500 (Seats 1,000)
Address: Park View Road, Welling, Kent, DA16 1SY
The first match was on August 26th 1977 and it heralded the club's climb to the heights of NonLeague football. New boundary walls, perimeter fences, turnstiles and terracing have all been installed to comply with various leagues as they progressed through the pyramid.
The ground itself is a generally attractive venue and is one of the most enjoyable grounds to visit in the Blue Square South. On one side is a newish all-seater stand.
Adjacent to this stand is a rather unattractive building which houses a social club and they welcome away fans. On the other side is a classic old looking seated stand. It is quite steep and still contains wooden seating.
The view from this stand is slightly restricted as the roof is supported by a number of supporting pillars running across the front of it. Both ends are open terraces and there is a slope to the pitch which runs down towards the Park View End.
This end is particularly close to the street called Park View Road behind the terrace.
Obviously for a better view you should be inside the ground and Park View Road is a good venue to watch football.
How to Get There by Car & Where to Park
