Jerome Uche first attacked the girl, who was staying at his family home, as she slept in her bed in 1995. The girl was then subjected to a series of further sexual assaults during her stay. Uche, who presented himself as an upstanding member of the community, would have escaped justice altogether had the victim not come forward over a decade later to report the attacks to German police last summer. Woodford's Child Abuse Investigation team were alerted and investigating officers soon discovered a second victim. A 43-year-old German woman who also stayed with the Uche family told police he had tried to rape her. Investigating officer DC Debbie Faulds of the Child Abuse Investigation Command based at Woodford, said: "Uche was a secondary school teacher who presented himself as a well-respected member of the community, but instead he breached the trust of visitors to his address. "I would like to thank the victims for the help they were able to give us during this investigation, along with the German authorities for their assistance and cooperation in bringing this matter to a satisfactory conclusion. I hope this result will bring some closure to the victims." Got a story?
