The Members, Chloe Cunningham and Lokkei Wong are asking the borough’s youths to join the UK Youth Parliament action team which meets every Monday from 4.30 to 6.30 pm in the Youth Office at Suffolk House, College Road, Croydon. The UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) is a national charity that aims to give young people a voice on a local and national level. Chloe and Lokkei were elected as Members of the Youth Parliament to represent young people in Croydon earlier this year and, with their deputies, Richard Serunjogi and Melvin Kurankye, they want to do everything they can to ensure all young people in the borough get involved and take the chance to have their say. Cabinet member for children’s services and adult learning, Councillor Maria Gatland, said: “Some young people may feel that politics has no interest to them or impact on their life but Croydon’s youth parliament proves that to be a myth. If you are aged 11 to 18 why not take this opportunity to join the action team and get involved?” For further information about Croydon’s Youth Parliament email ukyp.croydon@croydon.gov.uk, call 020 8760 5598 or check out the website below. What are the burning issues you'd like the Youth Parliament to look into?
