The Wireless: He's So Proud out June

The Wireless

From their attic rooms, the Hackney fivepiece have blown the cobwebs out of the limping London garage scene with an uncompromising craftmanship...

Hackney jongleurs The Wireless have been described as everything from "nasty, dirty punk rock" (Matchbox recordings) to "a bouncy touch of honesty" (The P.I.X Magazine).

Make of them what you will with debut single, He's so Proud, selected as our London Calling record of the week.

This is undeniably music of the moment, taking a garage punk root and developing it into a electric shock of a stomp with a smattering of gutter-Brit lyrics.

Joe: The Wireless

Forming three years ago, the fivepiece caught the tail-end of the Libertines whirlwind and added to it some no frills poetry and keyboard player Joe, joining the guitar-led line up of Felix, Danny, Hugh and Martin.

Regulars on the capital's gig circuit, The Wireless have earned a name for themselves with appearances for Artrocker and Islington Academy and a name-check as one of Steve Lamaque's records of the week.

Now with a veritable potpourri of songs, six in fact at the time of writing, you can hear their debut single, He's So Proud, on the band's MySpace. Simply follow links in the right-hand column of this page.

There, you can also pick up forthcoming London dates including the single launch, on June 14 and their next appearance at Catch, on June 3.
