Running for Jack
They’ve done a 3-day cycle ride through New York. Now Havering police are heading stateside again to raise money for a young boy with a rare form of cancer.
6 year old Jack Brown suffers from neuroblastoma, which attacks the nervous system.
There’s no treatment available for his condition in this country.
So his parents - who are both officers with the Metropolitan police - packed up the family and took Jack to America for treatment.
But the treatment is expensive, and has cost over half a million pounds so far.
Jack’s parents are also hoping to hire a UK based scientist to help work on a cure for the disease.
So the officers from Romford headed to New York for a 36 mile run through Manhattan- in uniform, to try and raise cash.
They were joined on the 2-day run by officers from Newham, Waltham Forest, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, and accompanied by the New York Police Department (NYPD) as they made their way through Central Park.
