Nick Eriksen, who was a BNP candidate in the London-wide Assembly Member elections, described rape as a "myth" and says "some women are like gongs - and need to be struck regularly" on an internet blog.

Mr Eriksen was unmasked as the writer behind the blog by the Evening Standard.

The Green Party's mayoral candidate, Sian Berry said:

"Eriksen's comments are a timely reminder of the true values of the BNP - destructive, hateful, and violent. The disgust that he feels towards women is unmistakeable, and characteristic of his organisation's attitude to so many other people in London."

Richard Barnbook says that Nick Eriksen's views were not those of his party and that he had overstepped the line by publishing them.
