Your StoriesYou are in: London > London Local > Redbridge > Your Stories > Through our eyes ![]() Through our eyesSadia and Shazia Ur-Rehman An exploration of the many different lives that make up Ilford, seen through the eyes of two local film makers.
Born and bred in Ilford, Sadia and Shazia Ur-Rehman are local filmmakers, who decided to make a film about their hometown, coincidently titled, 'Ilford'. After experiencing a happy childhood with many fond memories of the place; witnessing the changes Ilford has undergone and the arrival of new faces, they decided to explore and share the stories of the local residents. ![]() Sadia and Shazia believe that Ilford doesn't always get the credit it deserves, "Often Ilford is portrayed quite negatively and the positive aspects neglected. The film attempts to combat this and show a side of Ilford that many do not see." 'Ilford' narrates the tale of a number of its residents and uncovers untold stories and experiences of many the towns' local community members. Collecting and sharing these stories, documenting experiences, mapping lives and presenting a picture of the composition of Ilford today. 'Ilford' takes its audience on a journey from places as far and wide as India, Africa, Kenya, Jamaica and Bosnia to settlement in Ilford. New Year, New FilmNot content with just one film under their belts, Sadia and Shazia are following on from their success with the production of 'PL4TES'. A short film on a subject close to their hearts - Car number plates. Well to be precise they're only interested in the personalised ones and the different types of people that reside behind the wheels. "Cars themselves tell a story about their particular owners from the model, colour, moderations made – tints, alloys, spoilers, subs and amps and number plates." Says Sadia with glimmer in her eyes. They're hoping to create a short documentary looking at the people and characters behind some of the flashier number plates and are keen to be contacted by anyone from East London who would like to get involved.
