Croydon is the most enterprising place in London
That’s official. The borough has already won the London round of the Enterprising Britain competition. But that’s not enough; they now want to be crowned the country’s most enterprising place.
To ensure they leave no stone unturned, Croydon Enterprise pulled out all the stops when Business Tycoon and Dragon’s Den judge Peter Jones visited the borough.
He was there with the other judges from the DTI Small Business Service to speak with business owners and young entrepreneurs across the borough.
They’ve been around the country visiting regional winners and according to Peter, Croydon was a real contender for the title - 'the most enterprising place in Britain'.
Peter Jones listens
“I have been impressed. From the time I first walked in … they gave out a telephone number … well the first thing I did was actually call that number, and they dealt with it seriously well”, says Peter
During the tour, Mr Jones was particularly impressed with a group of school tycoons from Norbury Manor Business and Enterprise College, who are running real businesses, in partnership with local firms.
Getting advice from one of the country’s most well known business tycoon was a real confidence booster for some of the young entrepreneurs.
Despite the borough’s impressive presentation to the judges, they will have to wait until September to find out if they are the most ‘enterprising place’ in Britain.
