Laura Marling: new to London Calling

Laura Marling

This Reading born songstress came to London with nowt but a guitar and a pocket full of dreams; dreams she is currently realising with the release of her debut EP and gigs across the city...

At just seventeen, Marling's writing style is way beyond her teenage years.

Although the London Town EP, on independent Way Out West records, is her debut release, anyone familiar with her live performances will be able to tell you about her mature range and reach.

Simply put, Marling uses the city as a backdrop to her tales of love, friendship and life.

More Marling magic: Laura live

The simplicity of a single acoustic guitar complements perfectly her softness of voice and frankness of lyrics.

Now a regular on London's live music scene, Laura Marling recently played the Camden Crawl, in keeping with the likes of Pete Doherty and Amy Winehouse.

She's also been a big hit at the well established Blue Flowers night in West London and at the King's Road's Bosun's Locker.

You can see live video footage and hear further tracks from this latest addition to our London Calling talent roster by checking the website www.myspace.com/lauramarling (see right for details).
