Little Death

London Calling's Little Death

Little Death

This international four-piece base themselves south of the river. They like Camden for a buffet scoff though, and are fond of testing their music out on four-year-olds...

Coming together from around the globe, namely California, Texas and Canada, Little Death formed a year ago and are currently based in south east London.

With influences ranging from the psychedelic movement to the Surrealist movement, to the movement to Camden for a nice Thai buffet, the band sound something between post-punk riot and post-rock glam.

Along with drummer Will Chism, the band have a strong vocal presence. Guitarists Nathan Hewitt, CK Underwood and bassist Malia James all sing, too, bridging the gap between atmospheric verses and stomping, energy-infused choruses.

Thus far in, Little Death have got themselves a MySpace page, a fan base and a great little single in the pipeline. Countdown is set for release on 16 April.

"mission accomplished"

The band cite the recording and mixing of the single as one of their best moments.

After its completion Little Death play-tested Countdown to a four-year-old. "He slam danced!" they tell us, "Mission accomplished!"

Little Death: the full ensemble

As well as the single to look forward to, the band have more live gigs coming up.

You might even catch them covering favourite track, Surrender by Cheap Trick, or Ennio Morricone and Mina Mazzini's Se Telefenando. Ah. So they do have some musical influences after all...

Their London Calling featured track, Countdown, is available from 16 April, and there are four more songs to hear at (see links, right).
