Future for Croydon

New look Croydon on display

The planned £2 billion development of the borough will form the centre piece at a Croydon Expo.

The event will give potential businesses and the public a glimse of the vision for the borough for the next decade.

The centrepiece of each display will be a new three dimensional model that has been commissioned to illustrate the borough's potential as 'London's Third City'.

The reason for putting on a Croydon Expo is to highlight business opportunities and attract investment into the borough.

Councillor Tim Pollard, cabinet member for finance and regeneration, says:  "Over £2 billion worth of redevelopment is already planned over the next 10 years.

"This will have a major cultural and physical impact on the borough and  this [Expo] will be an opportunity to show local businesses and the public the vision of what can be realised through regeneration.  It will enable us to showcase proposals to developers on our home ground."

Future flats at night

The event is planned for early summer and although all venues are yet to be agreed, it's expected there will be localised versions in various districts.

Residents in areas like New Addington and Purley may get an opportunity to show off plans for the new pool, public amenities, and supermarket being planned for the Central Parade.
