Badge of honour?

With ASBOs quickly becoming a fashion accessory for some of London's youngsters, a group of amatuer film makers from Bexley decided to make a film outlining how uncool ASBOs really are.

ASBO Facts

  • ASBOs were introduced by Section 1 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 and first used in 1999.
  • Anti-social behaviour has a wide legal definition – to paraphrase the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, it is behaviour which causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to one or more people who are not in the same household as the perpetrator.

With news that many young people see ASBOs as a badge of honour, one group of teenagers from Bexley in South London have decided to make their very own film to highlight the downside of receiving one of the 7,000 Anti-Social Behaviour Orders that have been handed out across the UK since they were first introduced in 1999.

The film's the brain-child of Pointless Taxi productions - a small group of teenage film-makers aided by their local policeman, PC Michael Waring.

The film follows the story of a young girl who gets involved in a string of anti-social scenarios and consequently receives an ASBO.
