Wild in the Parks

Wild in the Parks

BBC London is helping to create a special community wildlife garden in one of the Royal Parks.

BBC London is joining forces with the RSPB and the Royal Parks to build a community wildlife garden inside Regent's Park.

The area, which will be created over the next three years, will be a haven for people and wildlife right in the heart of the capital.

Local schools and community groups will be encouraged to get involved in the project to increase their understanding of conservation and the local environment.

It is also hoped that the scheme will inspire people to create or look after existing wildlife garden across the capital.

The project will also see the creation of a 'modern archive project' – which will record the feelings and opinions of participants.

Youngsters will be encouraged to interview older members of the community about their memories of the capital's parks.

If you want to get involved in a conservation project in your local area, find out what is going on near you at  www.bbc.co.uk/breathingplaces.
