Notting Hill Carnival

Carnival Travel

If you fancy immersing yourself in the full chaos and colour of Carnival, or whether you're desperately trying to avoid those crowds and road closures, BBC London has all the information you need right here to help you get around over the weekend.

The best way to travel to Carnival this year is by tube and bus - and if your legs are up to it then walking is by the far the cheapest and crowd-free option!

Road closures

The Notting Hill Carnival procession passes along the following main roads - Westbourne Grove, Chepstow Avenue, Great Western Road, Kensal Road and Ladbroke Grove - all will be closed to traffic.

Nearby streets will packed as well so there could be other road closures depending on the crowds.

Parking? (are you kidding?!)

There's really very little chance of parking anywhere near Notting Hill so do yourself a huge favour, leave the motor at home and make use of the extra public transport laid on just for you!

Bus services

Buses that normally serve the Carnival route will be on diversion.

Two special express routes - 36X and 436X will be running between south London and the Carnival on both Carnival days. Numerous other bus routes will run close to the Carnival but will not enter the immediate Carnival area due to some road closures.

The routes serving the area are; 7, 18, 23, 27, 28, 31, 36, 52, 70, 94, 148, 295, 316, 328, 390 and 452.

Night routes will operate throughout Sunday and Monday night - N7, N15, N18, N28, N31, N52 & N207.

Bus routes 6, 15, 187, 205, 220, 274, 414 and 436, all operate within a comfortable walking distance.
