Riz Lateef is the face of BBC London - presenting the flagship 6.30 nightly TV news programme.

She's been named as one of London's '1,000 most Influential People' by the Evening Standard and won Media Professional of the Year 2009 at the prestigious Asian Women of Achievement Awards.

Riz has taken many major politicians to task including Tony Blair and David Cameron. She led the coverage of the 2008 London mayoral elections separating spin from reality in interviews with Ken Livingstone and Boris Johnson.

She also presents the national 8pm bulletin on BBC One, and has appeared on BBC News channel and the Andrew Marr Show. She hosted the BBC One show 'The Olympic Torch Comes To London' with Matthew Pinsent.

Before joining BBC London she presented and reported for the BBC in the north east and Cumbria. She also appeared regularly on BBC Breakfast. 

Her TV appeal isn't limited to news - she was a presenter on BBC One's Holiday programme, appeared with Dawn French in the comedy Wild Wild West and has even popped up on Eastenders!

Before journalism, Riz began her career behind the camera - working as a management consultant in the media industry. In 1998 Broadcast magazine noted her as one of the television industry's young hotshots.

Riz also has an MBA from a leading business school.
