The Homotopia festival invites attendees to "be who you want to be".
The success of the Viennese Ball in April 2008 proved that Liverpool loves dressing up. In November 2008 the Homotopia festival will be taking the Scouse love of strutting their stuff to the extreme with the Homotopia Vogue Ball. The ball is based on the New York black gay scene of the 1980s, which saw men dressing up in their finery to dance, strut and pose competitively. The underground scene was immortalised by Madonna in her Vogue single.
For those who dare to cross-dress to impress, the Vogue Ball offers dancing lessons and the opportunity to compete in various different categories, from WAG to Scally's Mum.

It is nice to see this resurrected. I remember in the late 80's and 90's seeing it in the clubs in the states. If you are unfamiliar with it - check the movie out "Paris Is Burning" - great documentary following various "houses" in NYC. Peace!
I attended this event...it was a superb evening. Liverpool went Vogue crazy for the evening...well done to everybody who made an effort and got dressed up. Darren Suarez you are a star
