Moss Bank Bulldogs

This junior amateur rugby league club hopes to raise the roof on new changing rooms which will benefit young rugby players in the area.

Moss Bank Bulldogs in action

Moss Bank Bulldogs Junior Amateur RLFC are in the third division of the North West Counties League. They recruit players mainly from the Carr Mill and Clinkham Wood areas. They have two teams, the under 16's and the under 11's. The team coaches are ambitious and would like to see the club reach the dizzy heights of the first division. They've recently been given planning permission to build changing rooms in the Moss Bank area which it's hoped the whole community will benefit from in the future.

BBC TV AND RADIO COMMENTATOR RAY FRENCH GET'S BEHIND THE TEAM!

Ray attended he club's Presentation Night and was overwhelmed with the friendly welcome he received. He's backing the changing room idea and says he welcomes the opportunity to raise the profile of the team and the Moss Bank community on the Rugby Hour on a Thursday evening with Alan Jackson, that's from 7pm.

At the request of BBC Radio Merseyside, St. Helens RLFC have agreed to support the Bulldogs. The under 11's and under 16's teams will meet Saints players, tour the ground, and receive specialist coaching. Saints have also donated several raffle prizes to the Club to help raise funds, including a signed shirt.

BBC Radio Merseyside's RL reporter, Allan Rooney will be with the Moss Bank Bulldog players to record their stories as the Voices Project follows them over the next few months.

They also need first aid supplies like plaster for strapping, cold & hot sprays etc.

Coach, Steve Broughton says... "the Bulldogs are one of my proudest achievements. To see them play, mature and learn to respect and watch out for one another is more than just reward for all the hard work. The Bulldogs have become my extended family and I am immensely proud of every single one of them for their dedication, commitment to the community and the will to do well."

You can keep up to date with all the news on the planned changing facilities and how St. Helens RLFC are giving their support, every Thursday evenings at 7.05pm with Alan Jackson during "The Rugby Hour" on BBC Radio Merseyside.
