Blues
in the Night is one of the Liverpool shows from the National Student
Theatre Company that is going up to the Edinburgh Fringe this year.
It
is set in 1930's Chicago and tells the stories of three women living
in a cheap hotel. There is the ex-chorus girl consumed by her memories,
the rich wife who threw her life away, and the naive debutant with
a broken heart.
Each
one is caught up in a complicated, seductive battle of the sexes,
supported and taunted by the sleezy saloon bar singer.

Blues
in the Night features a stellar cast belting out a show-stopping
series of sexy blues and jazz numbers such as Stompin' at the Savoy'
'Taking a Chance on Love' and 'Lover Man.' They are backed by an
ensemble of stunning musicians and the show has received rapturous
applause in its Liverpool performances at Lipa.
NSTC
founder Clive Wolfe says "the NSTC has an enviable reputation,
providing a rich diet of high-quality comedy, drama and musical
entertainment. This latest and defiantly upbeat show is performed
by a wonderfully talented cast, all with star quality."
So
get down to Augustine's venue in August and discover the music that
gets them through the long, lonely night. It's a heady mix of melancholia
and euphoria that proves 'everybody's got a right to sing the blues.'
Blues
in the Night, Augustine's Sanctuary. Midnight, Aug 4th-25th (not
11th & 18th).
41 George IV Bridge, Edinburgh, EH1 1EL.
