John Bishop only performed stand-up comedy for the first time in October 2000, and within four months was headlining at comedy clubs in Northern England.

John returns to his hometown for a one off performance at the Neptune on July 11th. John's unique brand of observational humour reflects his varied and colourful life experience, from fatherhood to cycling around the world and atking in a career in the corporate sector and semi-professional
football.

He's been called the funniest thing to emerge from the Northern comedy scene since Peter Kay. In July 2002 John first ever solo show at the Dance House heatre in Manchester was nominated for 'Best Live Comedy show' in City Life magazine, and in March this year he performed to a sell out crowd at The Lowry.
