My Memory

School Picture

This is a picture of Form 3Y Toxteth Technical School as it was called in1955.

The teacher is Mse Terrier our French teacher and at the time the most popular in the school! Forget why!

I am on his left.

Some names I can remember are:

Bernard Riley, Hughes, Mason. Kinsella, Chapman, Billy Long, Billy Blade.

I Live on The South Coast of New South Wales now - a far cry from Liverpool!

Mike O'Brien

"I remember the French teacher Msr. Terrier.in fact I remember him leaving to return to France.Everyone was sad to see him go.
I left in 1958 and still have fond memories of my formulative years at TTS or TTI as it was previously called (Tommy Tucker's Idiots was a derogatory tag given by local scallies!) .
I still have my school reports signed by masters and the formidable Headmaster,Stanley Conway JP.
It was also my first encounter with the cap and gown worn by our teachers. Coming from Chatsworth St Primary and Earle Rd Sec.Mod.it was a bit over whelming.I was one of those poor sods who failed the 11 plus but sailed through the 13 plus.
I still tremble with fear at the memory of sitting exams at the Collegiate or"Draculas Castle" as it appeared to me then.
Thank God for modern methods of streaming talent in the Comprehensive system."
Jim Brade's memories of TTS.
