The most famous appearance was not in the dock but as a Barrister - Gilbert of Gilbert and Sullivan fame tried his hand at law in Liverpool but was so unsuccessful that he decided to abandon the cloth in favour of writing musicals!

Refurbishment will improve the general condition of the room and turn it into a education and learning centre.
