My brother is on the Victoria boat and I had never been to Liverpool before. What a fantastic weekend it was and I cannot wait to come back next year in July when he returns. Thanks Liverpool for giving them all such a great send-off.

My son, Jack, was the proud winner of the BBC Newsround Competition to fire the start gun with James Cracknell. We had the most wonderful weekend, starting with a guided tour of the city, including football stadia and Beatles haunts and Jack was invited onto the bridge of the Mersey ferry! I was very touched by the kindness shown to Jack by the Liverpool Gunners, who put him at ease, and he was made to feel very welcome in the VIP tent! Thank you, Liverpool, for your hospitality. We now see ourselves as ambassadors for your wonderful city (we live in Dorset) and can't wait to return and cheer the fleet in next July.

A wonderful atmosphere at one of the world's most spectacular water fronts. What a sight to see the yachts leave the Mersey with a trail of well-wishers following, military, restored sailing boats, tug boats and small craft. Our best wishes go with the crews.

Left home at 5.30 in the morning with my wife and my dad to see my brother off on Qingdao, a fantastic day out and we will never forget it, thanks to all who organised this spectacular day. Why on earth did it not warrant some coverage on the national news? We get plenty of doom and gloom, and loads of coverage about the german election and ignore a home grown feel good story, I would appreciate your comments.

Hello, my family and I went down to the River Mersey on sunday to see the start of the clipper race as my uncle was on the liverpool clipper. We were disapointed because there wasnt much coverage in the local paper. My family and I where following the clippers as the race started, on the Royal Daffodil, and we cheered ever boat as they past by. My uncle's name is Andrew Tomlinson he is 43 years of age. Andy is traveling the first leg and the last leg and surely all of my family are going to surport him all the way through the race. I cant tell you how much my family and I miss him. GOOD LUCK ANDY!!!

D'ont the media like liverpool only one report on Granada News on the race start?
Paul Green
The sail were a bit grubby. I thought the entertainment was poor and the boats looked dull, people were also standing in my way so I couldn't see much

Saw the race from the Crosby Shoreline. Very proud that they have chosen Liverpool as the venue. The shoreline was crowded - even the Iron Men seemed to enjoy the spectacle!

As 'legger' on this race (I join DURBAN Clipper in May) I feel I must thank the people of Liverpool for the wonderful send off given to all the boats. It was a fantastic atmosphere and I'm sure the Crews were really moved by the support given by everyone. Thank you Liverpool!. I look forward to sailing up the Mersey next July...see you again then!!.

I was at new brighton and I thought it was great later I moved on up towards Harrison Drive, and stayed there and watched them go over the horizon, with the aid of my Binoculars,Hopefully I will be able to watch them a gain when they return next August,Dissapointed though you did not show any pictures of Westernaustralia.com,but of course you would be biased, but then again maybe you will show her at a later date,to Pacify an Old Seadog, like ME.
