Formed in 2008, Doal Drummer are a post-punk alternative rock band based in the North West. Doal Drummer’s music encapsulates dark and witty lyrics in a brooding atmosphere. With dense and powerful rhythms, the band have produced an accessible collection of songs and aren’t afraid to use memorable hooks and epic choruses. InfluencesComparisons to other acts, especially northern acts from the early 1980’s post-punk and new wave scene are easy to make, but the band are quick to name other less obvious influences: especially ‘Transformer’-era Lou Reed, ‘Because of the Times’ by The band has achieved much in their short time so far, most notably making it to the last 50 bands in the Orange Unsigned Act show on Channel 4 after only two gigs. The experience has served them well and they continue to gig frequently in the North West. With trips to London and other musical hotspots around the country under their belts, there is more on the cards for Doal Drummer in the months to come.
