Remembrance in Liverpool

Discover and share memories, stories and photographs of family members whose lives were shaped by World War I.

You can find out about relatives who were involved in World War I and share stories and memorabilia at a free family history event at Merseyside Maritime Museum on Saturday, 8 November, 2008.

To mark the 90th anniversary of the 1918 armistice the event from 10am to 4pm will include the chance to search archives and records to trace your family's involvement in the war.

Historians from the Kings Regiment (Liverpool) will give access to a database which contains the biographical details of over 70,000 men who served in the regiment during the war.

As part of the BBC's season of programming to mark the anniversary of the end of World War I there will be the opportunity to scan in and upload stories to a special online Wall of Remembrance.

World War I objects from National Museums Liverpool's collection will be on display and experts will give guidance on how to trace family history.
