La Machine could lead to delays

La Machine: Road closures

Many of Liverpool city centre roads will be closed for periods during La Machine.

From Friday, 5 to Sunday, 6 September, 2008 many of the main routes around Liverpool city centre will be closed to traffic for periods.

To avoid getting caught in queues check the details below.

Friday, 5 September

6pm – The Strand closed in both directions between Queens Wharf and Great Howard Street

9pm  –  Northbound closure moved from Queens Wharf to Liver Street as the parade moves from the Albert Dock complex to the Cunard Building.

11pm – The Strand re-opens in a southbound direction only. Northbound closure remains overnight from Liver Street to Great Howard Street.

Saturday, 6 September

11am – The Strand closed in both directions between Liver Street and Great Howard Street. 

2pm - Dale Street (b/w North John Street and Castle Street), Castle Street, Water Street, Brunswick Street, Cook Street, James Street, Lord Street, Harrington Street, North John Street (b/w Victoria Street and Lord Street) closed. Contingency to close Churchill Way South flyover.

4pm – Hanover Street, Ranelagh Street, Ranelagh Place, Renshaw Street, Brownlow Hill, Mount Pleasant, Gt Charlotte St, Elliott Street, Lime Street (b/w Elliott Street and Ranelagh Place) closed. 

5pm – Re-opening of The Strand, Dale Street (b/w North John Street and Castle Street), Castle Street, Water Street, Brunswick Street, Cook Street, James Street, Lord Street, Harrington Street, North John Street (b/w Victoria Street and Lord Street).

6pm – Lime Street closed in both directions (b/w Elliott Street and London Road), St George's Place closed.

10pm – Re-opening of Lime Street (b/w Elliott Street and London Road) including St George's Place.

Sunday, 7 September

The Queensway Tunnel will be fully closed to traffic from 6am on Sunday, 7 September until 6.30am Monday, 8 September.
