Ben Johnson's 'Liverpool Cityscape' a vast canvas depicting Liverpool's skyline is now complete and set to go on public display. The Llandudno born artist has spent the last three and a half years working on the cityscape, with six people involved in the painting that adds up to approximately 18 years worth of work. Liverpool Cityscape was started in 2004 at Johnson’s London studio and captures the city’s skyline at a pivotal point in its history. ![]() Liverpool's skyline is depicted in the cityscape Johnson has spent the last few weeks at Liverpool's Walker Art Gallery putting the finishing touches to the painting which will go on display at the gallery from Saturday 24th May, 2008. 244 cm high and 488 cm wide the cityscape shows the skyline of Liverpool, including some buildings which have yet to be completed. Painted on a vast canvas in acrylic paint, the painting uses some artistic licence in the viewpoint of the city, for example Anfield and Goodison have been moved closer together to allow them both to appear in the painting.
