At first I thought the bald guy was the ghost(!)The shadows and general softness of the light suggest that no flash was used. If you look at the woman on the left with the sunglasses on, her hand and the glass she is holding appear slightly more blurred than the rest of her and the other people in her group. Both of these things indicate a long exposure time, maybe as long as 4 or 5 seconds. Plenty of time for someone in the background to step out from behind the group and step back again, leaving the slightly transparent imprint of the 'ghost'.I think it's a fake sorry.

Firstly i'm a believer in ghosts and apparitions but i think this is a case of somebody jumping up in the background to get in the picture. 'ZOO' and 'NUTS' have a whole page on this type of thing every issue.

Secondly and perhaps more important. Why is that lady wearing sunglasses indoors? Does she think she is Fonzy or somebody so famous that she needs a disguise?

Would be nice to see a photo of the photographer. The "ghost" is at the same height as everyone and the missing eye probably has a camera over it and is a reflection .Either that or Jimmy Crankie has died and is hanging around for some ghostly high jinks.

Certainly looks ghostly to me. Had a similar experience a few Christmas's ago with a photo my daughter took of my nephew and and eldest daughter on Mersey Road, Aigburth while they were out having a walk in the snow. The ghostly figure of what appears to be a monk appeared standing next my daughter who was taking the photgraph. Certainly not a fake as my kids don't believe in that sort of stuff. Makes interesting viewing though!!

Some digital cameras have a slow shutter speed, due to this someone might have been taking a seat as the picture was taken, moving out of sight and causing a blury semi-transparent figure to be captured.To be fair, the figure apears to be in a position of somebody who is in the process of sitting down...

I think the image behind is where someone has moved. it looks to me like the photo was taken with out flash, so that the shutter is open for longer fast moving images will appear as a blur. It doesn't matter if it digital or traditional film its easy enough to receate similar effects with out any doctoring of the image.

i know what this is and if you could look really close at the mans black eye you will see that this man is punch drunk looking at what has become a para normal experience to which the ectoplasm cant reach for if it could all would be explained in an instant.

I am a Spiritualist Medium of 25-years experience. In that time I have seen many pictures like this. I am also a photographer and cinematographer. Although these kinds of pictures are easy to fake, my feeling here is that it is genuine. Because we must also take into account the veracity of the people involved in the picture. This phenomena is called an 'extra' - invisible to the eye at the time because the extra appears the infrared. Cameras can see this but we cannot. Hope you said hello to him!

The area of what is apparently the eye is a black rectangular shape matching the lense of her tinted glasses..which might suggest some kind of exposure/shutter effect whereby Nikki has been captured in motion.

I believe that this is not a ghost but may be caused as a reflection of the flash either from the roof (look over Roger Lyon's head it is over exposed in top left)or from the Glass in Nikki's hand. Suggest that someone replicate the exact photo (including all the glasses, lighting and use the same camera) and see what happens

Sorry to be a miserable spoil sport but this is in no way a ghost. I have a degree in graphic design and therefore messed about manipulating images alot. Zoom in and look above the alleged ghosts head. There is a definate line difference in the pixels across the coat sleeve, which is a crude attempt at cut and paste. The see through effect is by using the copy tool(set to a low opacity.Sorry guys, try harder if you want to fake stuff. Shame though coz I love ghost stuff.

I do believe in ghosts, as I have seen a ghostly white van on the M62, it just disappeared right in front of us, my friend was with me, and I just said did you see, what I saw, and now we don't? She answered yes, not a word was muttered, until we reached Liverpool. This just confirmed my belief in ghosts.

I emailed Linda Mac about this but a more viable explanation could be that someone has tried to get in the picture unbeknown to the presenters and moved slightly when the picture was taken (when they have seen the button pressed), a digital camera could have enhanced a ghostly effect as on some digital cameras the flash fires and the picture is taken only after 1/2 a second after the button is pressed. I would not rule out manipulation or a seperate image superimpossed etc, but I think my first explanation is more accurate.

Well, I have seen many pictures of gohsts appearing behind people but never anything like this as the features are pretty clear however, the outline of this gohst seems to be smudged,therefore it looks like it was moving at the time. I do believe this is a gohst, even more if the person taking the photo claimed that there was no one standing there.

I don't think it is a ghost.I've been shown something similar on a friends mobile phone recently and I think a similar story featured in the Daily Mirror early in the New Year.It's a scam!!!!!

Is this a digital photograph or conventional film? If it is film then there could be many explanations for the mysterious figure. If it is digital, then unless the BBC have manipulated the image then I suggest it is definitely a paranormal apparition!!!!

Not really spooky, all good pubs serve spirits. But seriously, it is very interesting and I think further investigation should take place. I would also be interested to hear what Tom Slemmen has to say about it.
