An exhibition of photographs by Steve Deer has opened at the Philharmonic Hall on Hope Street in Liverpool. ![]() Photo by Steve Deer. The exhibition, Auschwitz Anywhere, has been organised by The Artfinder’s Gallery, in conjunction with Holocaust Memorial Day 2008 and features images of the notorious death camps in Poland. Auschwitz Anywhere features 10 black and white, digitally shot photographs which cast an ambiguous view of the Nazi concentration camps where over a million people were killed during WWII. The photographs attempt to capture the heavy mood of the surroundings, and without knowing the context and history of the locations could easily have been shot at any railway siding, or collection of utilitarian buildings. Auschwitz Anywhere runs at the Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool from January 21st until February 3rd 2008. |
