This month BBC Introducing profiles Matt Lammin, a Liverpool based pop/soul singer influenced by the likes of Stevie Wonder, James Brown and Carole King. Matt Lammin is a singer/songwriter from Merseyside. He is currently working on a solo album of original songs written over the last few years and planning a number of intimate gigs. Help playing audio/video Matt has had an eclectic mix of experiences as a singer, and is currently a member of Laputa, the Sense Of Sound A Cappella Choir, JADEgroove and the GroovyWonderBand.
Matt is influenced by many artists, but in particular: Annie Lennox, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Sinead O’Connor and Morrissey. This is a diverse selection of artists, but the one thing that connects them all, in his opinion, is: "soul – not in the stylistic sense, but in depth of expression." Gaining momentum2006 was a great year for Matt in terms of progress with all of the musical ensembles he is a part of. With Laputa, there was a change of line-up, which resulted in the production of a number of new songs and some great gigs. ![]() Matt is a member of Sense of Sound On the other hand, JADEgroove returned to the scene after breaking up in 2002, and after a successful comeback gig at the Cavern, they are now working on a recording project. The year was extremely successful for Sense of Sound, culminating in them reaching the Grand Final of the Radio 3 Choir of the Year.
