Young and Scouse - What's Living in Liverpool like?

By Helen Jones
I went on a mission to find some willing candidates to answer my questions about where they live, what they love to do and what they hope the future holds for them. Find out how I did...

Sitting around talking with my mates is nothing new to me. We’re just like any other group of teenagers, spending a lot of time at each other’s houses and hanging around like sixteen-year-olds do. But we’ve all got our own view on how and where we live, and what we’d like to be doing with our lives in the future. So I decided to pin down three of my mates, and ask them a few questions, to give you an insight into life through a young person’s eyes…

What do you think are the best things about Liverpool?

Lyndsey – ‘It’s a multi-cultural city, so there are loads of different people with different lifestyles to meet.’
Kerri – ‘’The people are so friendly here.’
Andrew – ‘Anfield, because it’s such an experience going to the stadium.’

Where are your favourite places to go?

Kerri – ‘Quiggins, because it’s more unique than other shops and you can buy more unusual clothes. Also, the docks, because you can chill down there and it’s a good place to do art work.’
Lyndsey – ‘I love walking around town, because of all the shops and people.’
Andrew – ‘Newsham Park, because that’s where I go every weekend to play footie with my mates.’

And what are your hopes and dreams for the future?

"I find inspiration outdoors and all around Liverpool"
Kerri Gallimore

Kerri – ‘I want to join a band and learn the guitar again. I want to be famous!’
Lyndsey – ‘I want to see the world and I’d like to own my own night club. I want to be a beautician and maybe own a salon one day.’
Andrew – ‘I want to be an English teacher.’

What else do you like doing?

Kerri – ‘Art work. The museums and galleries are always good to inspire me for my art, but I find inspiration outdoors and all around Liverpool as well.’
Andrew – ‘Going out with my mates and listening to music. I like anything with good guitar in it, like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but also Snoop Dogg.’
Lyndsey – ‘I like spending time with my mates and going to the gym.’
