Music lovers can enjoy a live relay of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra's concert at the BBC Proms, the world's greatest classical music festival, right in the heart of Liverpool. The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra's will play to a capacity audience of 6000 people at London's Royal Albert Hall, possibly the UK's most famous venue on Saturday 23 July 2005, 7.30pm, with simultaneous broadcast on BBC 4 and BBC Radio 3. And for those who enjoy their music in the outdoors, Liverpool Culture Company is blowing a breath of fresh air on the Proms experience by teaming up with BBC Big Screen Liverpool to show a live relay of the concert from the Royal Albert Hall to the screen in Clayton Square, in Liverpool city centre. Big Screen viewings of ballet and opera from the Royal Opera House in London have already proved popular with locals and visitors alike. In a night of fantastic music, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra celebrates Sea Liverpool, one of the themed years paving the way to the City's year as European Capital of Culture 2008. Mendelssohn's Hebrides Overture and Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 feature with Vaughan Williams' Sea Symphony. Music Director Gerard Schwarz, who made a critically acclaimed Proms debut with the RLPO in 2002, conducts this year with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir, Chester Festival Chorus and soloists Leila Josefowicz (violin), Janice Watson (soprano) and Dwayne Croft (baritone). The Prom is the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra's third appearance in a year at the Royal Albert Hall following two sell-out concerts with Classic FM, and is the culmination of a successful season for the Orchestra in Liverpool and on tour throughout the UK. Please note: Covered seating will be provided but warm clothing is recommended in the event of bad weather. |
