Liverpool Riverside

Famous for the lowest turnout in the country in 2001 Liverpool Riverside remains a safe Labour seat with Louise Ellman retaining it with a majority of 10,214. The turn out has increased too, up by 7.41% to 41.49%. The heart of Liverpool the Riverside constituency covers an area that in the immediate post-war period was five seats.

Liverpool Garston

Maria Eagle holds on to her South Liverpool seat with a majority of 7,913. The seat was Conservative as recently as 1979, but is now a seat the Liberal Democrats are working hard to increase their strength in, and they seem to be succeeding with a vote up by 10% to 11,707.

Liverpool West Derby

Veteran MP Bob Wareing held on to one of the safest Labour seats in the country with a very healthy majority of 15,225. Bob Waring saw his majority fall by 10,000 in 2001. This time the drop has been much less and this seat remains a Labour heartland.

Liverpool Walton

Peter Kilfoyle

Peter Kilfoyle who has described himself as a 'critical friend' of the government has held this seat for Labour since he won the nomination after the death of the previous MP Eric Heffer in 1991. One of the most deprived areas in the country, the Walton seat includes Everton and Liverpool football clubs.

Liverpool Wavertree

A seat which in part occupies that once held by Liberal David Alton, Jane Kennedy has held Liverpool Wavertree since 1992, and she retains the constituency with a reduced majority of 5,173. This is another seat that the Liberal Democrats are targeting as 'one for the future' and they are improving increasing their vote considerably to 13,268.
