Plans for the redevelopment of Liverpool's Kings Dock have been revealed by the developers which promise a series of civic buildings that will provide a focal point for the 2008 Capital of Culture celebrations.
The latest proposals follow the collapse of Everton FC's plans for a new stadium at the location. The proposals include a multipurpose arena, a conference centre and exhibition facility, plus residential and hotel facilities.
The development will complete the regeneration of the dockside area on a site that has been earmarked for successive projects since the 1980's, The Kings Waterfront project will include a central piazza and 1,600 space multi-storey car park. Plans for the arena and conference centre will be arranged in a single complex with links to the hotels and car parks. Designed in two principle forms which will appear to create a pair of outstretched arms and wings.
A public piazza will be built
The building of a multi purpose indoor arena will finally meet demands for a local venue capable of hosting high profile concerts and events. Situated in the north of the development the design will be a horseshoe shape with a main seating bowl.
The conference centre will be at the southern end of the site and is envisaged as a versatile space to accomodate a wide range of events.

Karen, Liverpool A 10,000 seater arena is better than a half empty MEN which I have been to on a number of occasions. It will be great if we can attract all the top bands on a regular basis. Brill!!
