We

Thompson, team manager |
"I
expected the team to finish a comfortable mid-table but they have
taken this league by storm," said Phil Bell, President of the
university's Athletic Union. "To be six points clear and score
22 goals with one game still to play is truly a fantastic achievement."
The
team has played against several larger universities including Cambridge
and Warwick to achieve the prestigious title of league champions,
and first team manager Ed Thompson is equally pleased with the team's
performance.
"We
have worked hard all season and have a great team spirit,"
he said. "Everyone works for each other and as hard as each
other and that is one of the reasons why we are where we are."
Lincoln
will now go through to the national finals and could be drawn against
any of the top universities in a knock-out style tournament. They
will also have to play in a promotion play-off game with the winners
being promoted to the Premier North League.
