This
is surprising considering now with the Iraq conflict taking place,
you would expect journalists to be rushing around the newsrooms
knocking one another down in order to get to the latest news off
Ceefax.
There
is a lot of hard work that goes on inside BBC Radio Lincolnshire.
If you had to visit the station, you would be likely to see web
designers impressively manoeuvring their way around the complex
Dreamweaver computer programme in order to produce Lincolnshire’s
BBCi site.

You
could also see broadcast assistants calmly contending with the pressures
of goals frantically being scored every minute or so on a Saturday
afternoon as the football season reaches an exciting climax.
I have
noticed that the BBC Radio Lincolnshire station has a good relationship
with its audience. It satisfies local peoples’ need to know what
is going on in the county and it enables individuals to speak to
each other, on talk shows for example, developing an awareness of
a common membership of a community.

| Radioman
- used by BBC Radio Lincolnshire |
In
the little spare time that I get due to studying a journalism degree
at the University of Lincoln, for the past four months I have been
working for BBC Radio Lincolnshire. It has been extremely useful
for me, as someone who wishes to embark on a career in journalism.
I have
learned how to use in-house BBC apparatus and become familiar with
what to expect of an actual journalism-working environment.
By
Graham Britton, who works for BBC Radio Lincolnshire on a Saturday
afternoon for the sports team.
