Poacher 2004: Reports

Over the course of Poacher 2004 we invited a selection of Scouts and Guides from the camp to write an article for us that revealed something about life on Poacher.

Here is one of those reports - for more return to the Poacher index >>

Report by Paul Jackson, Waddington Sentries.

This year at Poacher 2004 we have witnessed one of the largest international contingents ever to come to Lincolnshire for a Scouting/Guiding event. Some people have come in large groups and others with just one or two people.

My group of friends and I have made good friends with a pair of guides from the Alberta Province of Canada. We have done lots of activities together including: Bowling, rafting and roller discos.

They have told me that they really enjoy being in Britain and they hope we will come and visit them in a year's time over in Canada.

We have also made good friends with a group of Irish Scouts who did a performance in the international tent where they put on a small band and did some Irish dancing and in true Irish style demonstrated how to pour Guinness correctly!

International Scouts and Guides.

There are many other nationalities camping here at Poacher 2004, and these include groups of Scouts and Guides from Belarus, Sweden, Norway, New Zealand, Germany, Uganda and Japan.

Poacher 2004 has been a great experience for all those involved whether they be from New Zealand or Lincolnshire itself. The activities are fantastic, and the camp chiefs and sub camp chiefs are very enthusiastic and encourage all the campers to get out there and have piles of fun!
