Poacher 2004: Reports

Over the course of Poacher 2004 we invited a selection of Scouts and Guides from the camp to write an article for us that reveled something about life on Poacher.

Here is one of those reports - for more return to the Poacher index >>

Q & A With a Leader:
Jenny Gibbon spoke to Linda Fowels from Middle Rasen Guides about why she became a Guider

Report by Jenny Gibbon

Linda Fowels.
Linda Fowels is a Guider with the Middle Rasen Guides.

Q: Why do you enjoy being a leader?
A: I enjoy giving the girls the opportunity to do new things and meet new people.

Q: Would you encourage others to be a leader?
A: Yes, because leaders get a lot out of it as well, such as new friends.

Q: Why did you decide to become a leader?
A: I started off as a helper and then went on to a leader because I enjoyed what I was doing.

Q: Do you enjoy camping and why?
A: I do enjoy camping because it's fun and you get outside. It nice to see the girls away from home.

Q: Have you ever been abroad camping as a guide or leader?
A: No

Q: Do you like the idea of Poacher having themes?
A: Yes, because it makes every Poacher a different experience everytime.

Q: Finally, do you think Guiding and Scouting has a future?
A: Yes it will, so long as there is enthusiastic leaders and helpers who are willing and available to help.
