I'd read about Louise Fairburn's wedding dress and seen it on the internet but nothing prepared me for the sight of one of the most extraordinary and beautiful dresses I'd ever seen when she brought it in to my show. ![]() Louise Fairbun's Lincoln Longwool Wedding Dress Louise and her husband Ian have a flock of Lincoln Longwools at Walesby; and when the time came for Louise to choose what sort of wedding dress she'd like, she looked no further than her own sheep. Her lovely dress had a top made out of finely spun wool, crocheted in the pattern of tiny crowns, each one with a crystal sewn on it to look like a jewel. The skirt was made from staples of the beautiful long, curly creamy wool sewn to a lining to recreate a fleece effect. The wool had come from one of her sheep, 'Olivia'. The guests were even served Lincoln longwool meat the reception but fortunately, Olivia was spared and still grazes in the Wolds. Since her wedding, Louise's dress has created interest from all over the world and she's also received approaches from national magazines. The dress, which cost £1,500, took a spinner and dressmaker 67 hours to make. last updated: 18/08/2009 at 16:09 Have Your SayWhat was your wedding dress like? Would you wear one made from wool?
