Laura was scouted for the competition while she was visiting the Clothes Show Live in December last year. Laura says "It was a bit of a shock as I had minimal make up on, flat shoes (I'm only 5"3!) and a hooded top."

"I had my picture taken at Clothes Show Live, and was subsequently contacted by the 'Teen Queen UK' panel in January to ask if I would fill out a questionnaire [that judged my personality I suppose] and send some more photographs, which I duly did. I was then invited for an all expenses paid photo shoot in London, where they did my hair and make up. I've never ever worn so much make up! It transfers into the pictures well, but feels an inch thick at the time!"

"It was a long wait after that to see if I had made it through to the heats. I eventually got a phone call to say I was in the semi-finals, which would be decided by a public vote. The top 3 qualify for the live final on the 13th of August, which is run along the lines of a beauty pageant. I'm really lucky as I still have my prom dress from when I had my year 11 prom at school, so I already have my evening wear sorted!

Chatsworth International Horse Trials

It's a brilliant opportunity for me, and something that's totally different to what I normally do. I've recently left school to focus full time on a career in eventing, I have three horses and some wonderful sponsors. It's really nice to know that people are willing to put their belief in me - sometimes I have trouble believing in myself. I am a former pupil of Bourne Grammar School, and was captain of their show jumping team - we won the area competition last year, being the only team to finish faultless. We were really pleased."

"I'm hoping Lincolnshire people will support me and help me get to the final of the competition  - I'm the only Yellow Belly in the whole competition!"
