William Lovell School

21st Century Lovell

21st Century Lovell

Journalism students from William Lovell School talk to their teachers about how Christianity affects their life and teaching.

The William Lovell Church of England School seeks to be an inclusive community in which people see the Christian Gospel in action. The school was founded upon the wishes of William Lovell, a hard working local man who thought that the children of Stickney deserved a better education, so when he died in the late 17th century he left some money to provide a school for the local children.

Rory reports on sport at William Lovell

Sport is taken very seriously at the school - In the film journalism student Rory reports from the school field, Rory says "Just because we are a C of E school we don't go in for 'wimpy and pathetic' tackles and we don't like losing."

As part of the the terms of William Lovell's will in 1678. The revised Trust Deed (dating from 1926) states that "the School of the Foundation shall continue to be maintained as a Public Elementary School, and religious instruction in accordance with the doctrines of the Church of England shall be given therein."

Pupils from the school spoke to two of their teachers, (Mrs Acheson - R.E and Mr Lowndes - Music) to find out more about the Christian aspects of their school.
