Cathedral Director of Music, Aric Prentice

The Cathedral's Director of Music is Aric Prentice, he is responsible for the Music Department at the Cathedral and Lincoln Minster School.

Aric has been Director of Music since January 2003. He began his musical training as a chorister in Durham Cathedral, moving to Trent College as a music scholar in 1985. 

He studied at Jesus College, Cambridge, in 1990 where he read Music and Theology and in his final year sang as a choral scholar in St John's College Cambridge, recording and broadcasting extensively.

Aric is now regularly in demand as a soloist, accompanist and conductor. Solo counter-tenor roles have included Handel's Messiah, Bach's St John Passion and Mass in B minor.

Recent projects have included directing Lincoln Cathedral's Guild disc Hail Mary, recordings of the music of Thomas Morley and of Richard Lloyd on the Priory label, and directing three episodes of BBC's Songs of Praise including the episode for Christmas 2005.
