St Swithin's will make history!
Lincoln church hosts a CofE first
A Lincolnshire church made history when it became the first Church of England church to host a U2charist service. Read on to find out what happened and how you can relive the event, or see it for the first time if you couldn't be there!
The Church of England's first U2charist service took place at St Swithin's Church in Lincoln on Saturday 26th May 2007.
Bishop Grosseteste Choral Speakers.
Around 500 people packed St Swithin's Church to sing U2 songs, receive Communion and find out what they could do to try and make a real difference to the lives of people living in unfair and extreme conditions all over the world.
If you want to hear the service again, or if you couldn't be there and want to have a listen for the first time, we've got some great news - all you have to do is click on the links below!
Just a little word of warning - even though we've split the service into 4 parts the files are still quite big, so you might have to be a little patient while they load - but it's more than worth it!
What is U2charist?
BBC Radio Lincolnshire Religious Producer, Sue Edwards organised the event. She visited the church in the States where the U2charist Movement was born. Find out more about how the services work at St George's Church in Maine and listen to what some of the congregation have to say about it by reading her article.
