Basket of bread

A basket of bread made by Linda Hewett.

Bread Sauce!

Our series looks at bread. It's a staple of the British diet but many of us have forgotten how to create a home made loaf. Linda Hewett runs the School of Bread Making from her home in Fulbeck, near Grantham. She's giving Martin a dusting of flour and is attempting to turn him into a master baker! Listen to Martin's show 25th - 29th June to find out how you can let dough rise in the fridge, why you need a raggy dough and why you shoudn't slice bread out of your diet.

Martin becomes a Master Baker

Linda shows martin how to make a basic loaf. Click below for Linda's recipe. Martin finds out about breads from other parts of the world including Scandinavia, the Mediterranean and the Middle East. There's a nice focaccia, a rye bread, flat breads and sweet dough breads. Find out more about why Linda thinks you should be making your own bread and how easy it really is. Click to see photo's of Martin's attempts at a plaited loaf! And we'll soon be adding the audio highlights too.

Life in Lincolnshire

After midday everyday we have a lifestyle feature - you can phone in to speak to our regular experts, or we might be talking about something topical. We also ask for your daft suggestions such as name a song with fruit and veg in the title - you came up with some crackers.  We also like hearing your stories. Robin Carrier sent us special reports about his Blue Tits during Springwatch.

Gardening in a drought ?

Not likely given the rain we've had in June! But as climate change rises up the political agenda and we learn more about what effect we are having on our environment many experts agree we may be forced into changing the way we garden and the plants we might choose. Lincolnshire's gardening expert Alan Mason went to Portugal to undertake some research for the Royal Horticultural Society - and to find out for himself about gardening in a dry climate.

Meet the Team

The programme is produced by Maria Horner with support from Heather Murray and Clare Mortensen. Find out more about who's working on the show and who you speak to when you call to enter the competitions.

Martin Daniels is wonderful. He is great in Pantomime. He tells terrific jokes. Especially mine. What else can I say about him? Have I said enough to win me a free mug, so that I can send in the photo!!P.S. I also have always liked his Dad's act. Ever since the first time I saw him on TV. Between you and me, I also have a soft spot for Debbie!

Mike Creek
I bought a packet of pain killers some time ago. Unusually, I read the small print to check for side effects. Believe it or not one was - may cause headaches!

Anna
It's friday, the weather is good, the internet connection is working so I can listen to the show, and a presentation to a 150 people went like a dream!! A couple of Martin's daft jokes and I'm all set for the weekend!
