Extreme Cellists!

Between 24 July and 4 August 2006, The Extreme Cellists are visiting all 42 Anglican Cathedrals in England with the aim of playing on the roof. They visited Lincoln Cathedral on Tuesday 1st August.

The whole 'tour' has been a bit of a whirlwind trying to fit four concerts at different cathedrals into just one day - and to play in the most extreme corners of them.

On the roof of Lincoln Cathedral

Their visit to Lincoln was no exception as they had already visited Derby and Southwell before climbing Lincoln Cathedral's Tower. After Lincoln they hot footed it to Sheffield!

So, why are they doing this?

Here's what they say on their website, "Well, there are two main reasons. Firstly, because we're mad, and we like a challenge! But secondly, and more importantly, because we want to raise money for two very worthwhile charities. These charities - Shelter and Aspire - have been chosen because both have names that are linked (loosely) with Cathedral roofs, and we are delighted to be able to support them."
